The Kagiso Police say they are concerned about the increase in the number of rape cases in the area. This followed after a man was caught attempting to rape a woman on Monday, 9 March.
“More than three women were attacked and raped over the weekend in the area,” revealed a statement sent by the Kagiso Police’s spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya.
He explained that a woman in her late 20s from Rietvallei accompanied her friend who works on a farm, to work at about 8.30am.

An unknown man came to the farm and accused the woman of trying to steal from him. The man then tried to open the gate that leads further into the farm.
The woman decided to run to her friend who was already inside the farm yard but the man chased her and caught up with her.
“He then pushed the complainant down and tried to rape her,” said Sibiya.
Some farm workers noticed what was happening and came running to the woman’s rescue. They held the man down and phoned the police.
He was arrested and taken to the Kagiso Police Station where he was charged with attempted rape.
