Community enjoyed brewing a cuppa with a cop
The community recently had the opportunity not only to meet but also mingle with the police and emergency personnel from the area.
President Square’s parking area looked like a fair recently, but there was no home-made jam, no fun-fair rides … just some booths offering a cup of coffee with a cop.
According to the spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police, the purpose of the event was to give the police and other stakeholders in the community the opportunity to engage over a cup of coffee.
Residents of Mogale City also had the opportunity to have copies certified and do affidavits.
While Mugg & Bean staff handed out coffee, the Gauteng Police band, choir and dancers entertained the crowd.
Two Mounted Police officers on horseback mixed with the crowd, and the Motorbike Unit had their bikes on display.
Community members got to meet their Community Policing Forum (CPF) sector members, as well as talk to emergency and health-care professionals.
Security and vehicle tracking companies also joined to discuss the safety of the community.
At one of the stalls the West Rand Junior Police Commissioner, Atlegang Moshoeshoe handed out colouring books to the children.
Other police units, security, public safety and the Joburg Group Forensic and Investigation team also had displays and engaged with the community members at the centre.
It was a fun day for all, with Mogale City Speaker Noluthando Magole, councillor Norman Sedumedi and the executive manager of Mogale Public Safety, Advocate Khuduge also attending.
To symbolise peace in the community, the CPF chairperson, Tom Roux together with Tony Da Silva from President Hyper, the Mogale City Speaker and Brigadier Joseph released white doves.
The Krugersdorp Police thank everyone who helped make the day such a success.
