Narcotics Anonymous provides online meeting support to addicts

Narcotics Anonymous is pleased to announce they have expanded their NA online meetings programme to 10 meetings each day of the week.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is a non-profit organisation of men and women, for whom drugs had become a major problem.

The recovering addicts meet regularly to help each other stay clean. Narcotics Anonymous offers recovery to addicts around the world, and their message is broad enough to attract addicts regardless of gender, race, creed or religion.

Online Narcotics Anonymous meetings were launched in 2019, with the objective of providing an NA meeting to persons, communities, and patients unable to travel to any of the existing, face-to-face meetings held across South Africa.

This helps ensure every addict and every person who feels they may have a drug problem, can attend a daily meeting, irrespective of being unable to attend one of the 350 existing face-to-face meetings happening country-wide.

NA stated that their daily online meetings follow the same format as a face-to-face NA meeting and are for addicts as well as individuals who feel they may have a problem with drugs. They aim to make newcomers feel welcome at their online meetings.

NA’s programme is based on the 12 Steps which are, simply put, a set of guiding principles through which many have found recovery.

What is the NA Programme?

Narcotics Anonymous 12-step programme provides support and helps addicts attain and maintain a lifestyle of recovery. Key to the programme helping addicts stay clean, are regular attendance of NA meetings and finding a sponsor.

Beyond group meetings, service member volunteers also ensure that the message of fellowship and support is extended to addicts in prisons, hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, and rehabilitation centres. An introduction to the NA programme helps addicts continue with their recovery when they return to mainstream society.
