Join in and compete in the Lockdown photography competition

The Krugersdorp Camera Club is hosting a photo competition to lift the spirits and unite the community. They want to see what your lockdown experience looks like.

The Krugersdorp Camera Club is inviting all residents to celebrate their 90th birthday with them by taking part in their Lockdown Photography Competition.

They invite all Krugersdorp residents to share their surroundings and home during the 21-day lockdown.

They want this competition to unite the residents in Krugersdorp during this difficult time.

“You can enter the competition after the lockdown is over, but start taking photographs now so that you can get your panel ready. We will not use any of the submitted photographs for marketing purposes,” Corien Ross from the club said.

How it works:

* At the end of the lockdown, choose 10 photos that tell about your lockdown experience.

* There are three categories in which you can enter – primary school learners, high school learners, and students and adults.

* A panel of qualified judges will be judging the photographs and a winner in each category will be chosen.

* To enter, you can like the club’s Facebook page and upload your photos there. You can ask someone to upload it for you, but remember to add your name and surname, #lockdown, the category you are entering and your suburb.

* The club’s name on Facebook is KameraKlub.

* You can enter between 17 and 30 April 2020.

* Winners will be announced at the end of May 2020.

The rules for the competition are:

• All photographs must be taken at home; please do not travel to take photos.

• Contestants are asked to submit 10 photographs, no more.

• Photos must be taken during the lockdown; photos taken before 27 March 2020 and after 16 April 2020 will not be considered.

• Be creative with your photos. Subjects can be family, interior, product, pets, landscapes, macro as well as drone photographs.

• No form of boudoir photography or fine art nude photography may be submitted.

• Comments on photos will be disabled.

• Any type of camera can be used, namely cell phone, DSLR, drone or mirrorless cameras.

• No stock photographs or other people’s photographs may be used.

• Contestants must reside in Mogale City.

The winners of the primary and high school categories stand a chance to win R300 cash from Oasis Water; a voucher for photo prints from Foto First; have their photo published in the Krugersdorp News; and the winning panel will be displayed at the Krugersdorp Camera Club’s 90th Celebration Exhibition in September 2020.

The student and adult category winners will win R400 from Oasis Water; a voucher from Foto First; have their photo published in the Krugersdorp News; and their panel will be displayed at the club’s exhibition in September.
