Ministers Fraternal tackle Covid-19 through prayer

The West Rand Ministers Fraternal went beyond the call of duty and had an urgent prayer meeting for those affected with the novel coronavirus.

The West Rand Ministers Fraternal, also known as the Assembly of Ministers, held a prayer meeting and a workshop at the Lighthouse International Ministries in Kagiso recently.

The ministers had discussions on issues ranging from South Africa’s economic stability, and prayed for President Cyril Ramaphosa and his government, as well as for protection against the Covid-19 pandemic. Praying against Covid-19 was at the top of the prayer meeting list.

Taking guidance from the Bible scripture, Corinthians 3:18, the chairperson of the West Rand Ministers Fraternal, pastor Daniel Mogano, said churches need to play a role in assisting the government and the Health Department in the fight against this deadly coronavirus disease.

“As the virus continues to spread across the entire world and public life is increasingly shut down, we cannot sit in a corner and pretend nothing is happening. Churches are the community’s epicentres of spiritual healing, and we saw the need to urgently convene this prayer meeting and workshop to pray for those infected with the virus and their respective families,” said Mogano.

He said that the country is in a technical recession and they see this as an economic attack on the president of the country and his government. They are praying for the president and his cabinet to be more focused on the job at hand, and deliver good services to our people.

The Fraternal has also extended its wings to the Gauteng West Education District to pray for learners as well as the educators.

“We have engaged with the leadership of the Education Department on the West Rand so that we are given space to pray for our learners and educators. We are doing this because schools like your crèches are susceptible to diseases, and we hope that this move will ease the panic among our people,” said Magano.
