Beautiful German Shepherd needs a forever home
She may not have all of her limbs anymore, but that doesn't mean that this beautiful dog is any less lovable; help give Lady a loving home.
We all deserve love, a home, and a new beginning, and so do our furry friends.
In December 2019 a beautiful, stray, German shepherd was brought into the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA with a badly deformed right leg. After having her examined by two veterinarians, the SPCA was given two possible options for the dog – amputation or euthanasia.
Knowing that this stunning creature would be adopted in a heartbeat, the organisation refused to have her euthanised. A few community members expressed their anger and confusion as to why the dog’s leg needed to be amputated, but the veterinarians said that her deformed leg would have caused her extreme misery and suffering in the future. And because of the stiffness of her joints, the dog was most likely already in pain. Not only that, but the inside of her paw was wearing away, so the amputation was the best option.
Generous community members helped the SPCA pay for the surgery and the gorgeous dog has now been playfully dubbed ‘Lady Tripod’. Lady has healed tremendously after her surgery, and her spectacular golden eyes are full of light.
She is now fully healed and available to be adopted into a loving family. Lady is around two or three years old and extremely affectionate. She is very good with people and looks like she is in heaven when she is cuddled, but she doesn’t seem to be too fond of cats. You wouldn’t say that she is one limb short when watching her run; her energy is amazing.
If you can see this beautiful girl as a part of your family, visit the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA to meet her, or call 011 672 0448 for more information.
