Informal traders and spaza shops can now apply for a temporary licence during lockdown

The municipality calls on local traders to apply for a temporary trading licence in the allocated two days.

The Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) Economic Development Services division has sent out a request to local approved grocery stores, wholesale produce markets, informal traders and spaza shops that wish to trade during the lockdown period to apply for temporary permits.

“This is in response to an announcement by the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma that selected vendors be allowed to sell basic goods during the lockdown period,” communication from the MCLM read.

“Please note that spaza shops and businesses that sell cooked food only will not be issued temporary permits as per Covid-19 regulations. Social distancing and the provision of sanitizers will be strictly adhered to during this process,” the MCLM Communications Department noted.

Vendors can apply for a temporary permit on the third floor of the Ellerines building at the corner of Human and Monument Streets in the Krugersdorp Central Business Distric.
