Covid-19: Number of confirmed cases in Gauteng now at 1 507
There are currently 70 people hospitalised in public and private facilities

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stands at 1 507 as of Friday, 1 May, with 948 recoveries and 12 deaths.
Out of a total of 8 650 contacts traced, 5 886 people have completed the 14-day monitoring period with no symptoms reported and they have now been de-isolated.
A total of 70 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.
The provincial breakdown is as follows:
- Johannesburg – 865 cases and 591 recoveries
- Ekurhuleni – 328 cases and 225 recoveries
- Tshwane – 187 cases and 96 recoveries
- Sedibeng – 18 cases and 5 recoveries
- West Rand – 45 cases and 31 recoveries
- Unallocated cases within the province – 64 cases
The unallocated cases, in the district breakdown, refer to confirmed cases that are yet to be allocated to one of the five districts in the province.
Allocating cases to respective districts is still ongoing. After obtaining further information on contact numbers and addresses from law enforcement agencies, provincial outbreak teams and the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), the Department of Health is able to make corrections where a case might have been incorrectly allocated to a particular district.
