Gauteng province reports 1 247 recoveries from Covid-19
A total number of 60 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stands at 1 851 as of Friday, 8 May with 1 247 recoveries and 18 deaths.
Out of a total of 9 403 contacts traced, 6 885 have completed the 14-day monitoring period with no symptoms reported and they have now been de-isolated.
A total number of 60 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.
The breakdown per district is as follows:
- Johannesburg – 1 029 cases with 816 recoveries
- Ekurhuleni – 402 cases with 280 recoveries
- Tshwane – 278 cases with 109 recoveries
- Sedibeng – 22 cases with 8 recoveries
- West Rand – 55 cases with 34 recoveries
- Unallocated cases – 65

The unallocated cases in the district breakdown refers to the confirmed cases in Gauteng that are yet to be allocated to one of the five districts in the province.
Allocating Gauteng cases to respective districts is still ongoing.
