
Kagiso Police arrested two suspects aged 17 and 23 for murder and attempted murder in Tshepisong over the weekend.
On 23 May at about 7pm, Kagiso Police received a complaint of a shooting and murder. They responded swiftly to the scene where they found a group of angry community members in the street. The residents pointed out a shack to the police as the crime scene.
Upon opening the door of the shack, they found the body of a man in a sitting position. He was bleeding and there were used cartridges next to him.He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head, upper and lower body.
Paramedics declared the man dead on the scene. Another wounded victim was found in the same shack and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. The following day, the community informed the police about the whereabouts of the suspects, who were subsequently arrested.
The motive for the murder and attempted murder is being investigated by Kagiso Police’s Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.
“I want to applaud my members for their swift response, consistency and working tirelessly under difficult and challenging conditions to apprehend the two suspects. It is very important for our communities to work with us by reporting and exposing criminal elements immediately before serious crime is committed,” concluded the Kagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Themba Maduna.
The two suspects are facing charges of murder and attempted murder, and a case docket was opened. Another suspect is allegedly on the run.
