Millennium Primary School’s management and staff have prepared the school for the return of their Grade 7 learners.
They ensured that it was deep-cleaned and sanitized by The Cleaning Specialists, and safe for the learners. On Monday morning, 1 June, a third of the Grade 7s learners arrived, despite the Department of Education having postponed the return date on Sunday evening, 31 May by another week.

However, teaching and learning continued at Millennium on Monday.Various parents subsequently informed the school that their children would attend school from Tuesday, 2 June.
All learners were screened at the gate before entering the school premises. Strict social distancing will be implemented in the school as a whole by reducing the number of learners in a classroom, and making more classrooms available to adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines.

Learners will receive two cloth masks each on their return to school, and the classrooms and common areas will be sanitized every time they have been used. During the lockdown the school has sent work to the learners to complete.
However, because some learners do not have the means for online learning, the staff has committed to getting everyone back on track, and ensuring that no one is left behind. On returning to school all learners and staff will be given the necessary personal protection equipment for their safety.
The safety of the learners and staff will be the school’s first priority so that learning and teaching can take place to benefit all the learners.
