Man arrested for house robbery while kidnapping victims are still missing

When the robbers left, they took two of the victims with them at gunpoint.

A 30-year-old suspect was arrested on 17 June following an incident of house robbery and the kidnapping of two victims that took place two days before.

According to a statement by Kagiso Police, the victim alleged that on 15 June she was at her place of residence in Madala hostel with her two sisters and six friends when two unknown armed thugs entered.

They drew their firearms and ordered everyone to lie on the floor. While on the floor, the robbers searched them for cash. No one was injured and no shots were fired.

When the robbers left, they took two of the victims with them at gunpoint. The matter was reported to Kagiso Police who swiftly responded to the complaint, but they could not trace the kidnappers who had fled to the nearby bushes and mine dumps.

During the police’s subsequent extensive and intensive investigations, they managed to arrest one of the suspects, but the two kidnapped victims are still missing.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could help them to find the victims and their other kidnapper to call the SAPS Crime Stop line on 08600 10111 or Kagiso Police on 011 696 9000 /9059 /9065/ 9067.
