Vigilance and swift response by the police led to the arrest of two suspects aged 40 and 50 on the old Randfontein road next to Kagiso.
The police pounced on the two on Youth Day, 16 June, after receiving information about a stolen truck having been spotted in the area.
“Crime-prevention police who were attending to complaints received information about the truck’s description and registration number. They immediately noticed a truck matching the description and registration number of the one they had just received driving in front of them,” a statement from Kagiso Police read.
The statement further said that police pulled over the driver and asked the two occupants whose truck it was and where were they heading. The two failed to give a satisfactory explanation to the police and they were arrested and detained. The truck was confiscated for further investigation.
The acting Kagiso Police station commander, Colonel Peter Mabuso, applauded the members for their dedication and excellent response.
“I am proud of you. Your response was excellent, as you managed to stop the suspects in their tracks. Keep up the good work,” said Mabuso.
The suspects will appear in the court soon facing charges of possession of a stolen property.
