Photography competition winners announced
Residents of the Mogale City area entered panels of 10 photographs into three different categories, namely Adults and Students, High School Scholars, and Primary School Scholars.
The Krugersdorp Camera Club (KCC) recently hosted the KCC Lockdown Photographic Competition as part of the club’s 90th birthday celebrations.
Residents of the Mogale City area entered panels of 10 photographs into three different categories, namely Adults and Students, High School Scholars, and Primary School Scholars. All the photographs had to be taken during the Level 5 lockdown period to portray their lives or surroundings at home during this period. Three highly qualified judges gave their time and willingness to judge the competition for the club.

Judge Evelyn Gibson has been involved with the Photography Society of South Africa (PSSA) since 2007 and currently serves on the Board of PSSA as Director for Public Relations. She is also a member of its National Honours Judging Panel. Being heavily involved in Club Photography, she regularly judges at different clubs around the country or assists through remote judging. Reg Caldecott is an award-winning sports, commercial and documentary photographer. One of his favourite quotes is one by Diane Arbus, “Taking pictures is like tiptoeing into the kitchen late at night and stealing Oreo cookies”.
Christiaan Kotze is a multi-award winning press photographer who specialises in sports, news, theatre and wildlife photography, and has been in Media24?s employ for 23 years. He covered the 1995, 2007, 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups in South Africa, France, New Zealand and England respectively. In 2008, he travelled to China to cover the Beijing Olympics, and he covered the 2016 Olympics in Rio, to name a few highlights in his career.

The judges selected the following winners:
- Primary School Scholar winner -Samantha Thomson
- High School Scholar winner – Larissa Muller
- Students and Adults winner – Anita Greeff
