Mogale and Siphiwe celebrate the 10th SWC anniversary

The partnership saw the Tshabalala and Montjane Foundations together with Mogale City Executive Mayor, councillor Francis Makgatho donating 55 sets of food hampers and blankets, and Siphiwe's book titled Super Shabba Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) in partnership with the Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bokang Montjane Foundations recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament.

The partnership saw the Tshabalala and Montjane Foundations together with Mogale City Executive Mayor, councillor Francis Makgatho donating 55 sets of food hampers and blankets, and Siphiwe’s book titled Super Shabba Siphiwe Tshabalala. The event took place at Plot 89 in Muldersdrift.

Siphiwe accompanied by his wife Bokang, said they chose to donate 55 sets of each item because he scored the ?golden goal? in the 55th minute during the opening game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup against Mexico at the FNB Soccer City.

“I’m so grateful to have partnered with Mogale City in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Together with Bokang we saw the need to extend a hand of goodwill and assist those in need during this difficult time of Covid-19,” Siphiwe said.

“We are also celebrating my day (Shabba Day), the day when I scored that beautiful goal against Mexico. For me, this is the most important goal of my life as it united us as a country. When I celebrated that goal with my teammates I saw one rainbow nation,” he added.

He added that the two foundations will work together with MCLM in uplifting and changing the lives of the city’s residents for the better.

“Today we are going to donate food hampers, blankets and books to children as part of our social responsibility. We want to say thanks to the people of Mogale City and the entire world for being supportive of my career. What I’m doing today is one way of saying thank you.”

Mayor Makgatho added his voice and said, “I’m so humbled that Siphiwe and Bokang honoured their promises and came back to donate goodies to the residents of Plot 89. We have worked with Siphiwe on other community-related projects and today the community is so blessed that they will be receiving goodies from him and his wife.”

“We would like to thank the two foundations for having Mogale City in their hearts and we are looking forward to working with them on others community projects. I would humbly request Bokang to at least adopt two or three kids from these young ones and nurture them until their complete their studies. That would be a great investment for them.”
