Mogale City is still leading the West Rand District with the highest total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 1 619 as at 2 July.
Another 6 people recovered, which brings the total number of recoveries to 322, according to Gauteng Provincial Government’s latest breakdown of Covid-19 cases.
Rand West City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 655 and 792 cases respectively. There are 94 unallocated cases in this District as well. Rand West City and Merafong City have seen 176 and 400 recoveries respectively. The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District as at 2 July is 3 160 and 898 recoveries. There are 145 new cases.
In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 2 916, with 958 recoveries.
The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 49 937, with 14 097 recoveries and 282 deaths. Currently, 1 800 people are being treated for the virus in public and private hospitals in the province.
