Two dead, five injured as car crashes into wall in Muldersdrift

Child aged 3 and adult man killed in crash at the Oaktree crossing on the N14 and R563 in Muldersdrift.

A man and a child died and five other people were injured when the vehicle they travelled in crashed into a wall at the Oaktree crossing on the N14 and R563 in Muldersdrift on Saturday night (11 July).

Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson said they arrived shortly after 11pm.

“Paramedics found two people trapped inside the vehicle – both had to be freed using rescue tools. Three other people sustained critical injuries. One of them was a three-year-old girl. Three others were found on the scene with moderate to serious injuries. One of the critically injured adults as well as the three-year-old were airlifted to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital by medical helicopter for further care.

“One person was found with fatal injuries on the scene and declared dead by paramedics. It is understood that the little girl succumbed to her injuries shortly after her arrival at hospital.”

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known but traffic police, the police and fire services were on scene to investigate.
