Constable Lucky Matome, a West Rand District Police spokesperson, described the operation as a success. He said those arrested had committed crimes ranging from domestic violence, rape, housebreaking and theft, being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of drugs, murder, robbery, dealing in cigarettes and malicious damage to property.

Cigarettes as well as expired items were also confiscated, and traffic police issued fines to the total value of R45 150,” Constable Matome said.

“The ultimate goal of such operations is to protect law-abiding citizens from criminals. This was achieved by running parallel intelligence-driven operations throughout the two policing precincts through roadblocks and other crime-prevention initiatives.”
