Employees of a law firm in Silverfields were left traumatised after becoming the target of an armed robbery on Thursday afternoon, 30 July.
One of the employees spoke to the News and said it was work as usual when a man posing as a client entered and enquired whether they handled divorces. They gave him some information and he left, but approximately 15 minutes later he returned.
The employee said they recognised him as someone who had been to the firm before and as they stood up from their chairs to see how they could help him, he pulled out a firearm.
We were still thinking he was joking when a second guy came rushing into the office. He also pulled out a firearm, cocked it and said it was a robbery,” explained the employee.
The employees were told to put their hands on the desk while the robbers ransacked the offices, took laptops and unplugged the phone chargers.
They searched the employees and took their jewellery, wallets and phones.
“One of the guys had a gun pointed at us while this was happening, and he made sure that we were looking in the opposite direction. He then ordered us to go to the bathroom where he locked us up.”
After approximately 10 minutes, when everything was quiet, a female employee managed to climb through the bathroom window and got the keys to unlock the bathroom. Luckily no one was injured.
Police came to the scene to investigate.
