SA Covid-19 cases at 529 877 with 9 298 deaths

The number of recoveries currently stands at 377 266

As of yesterday, 5 August, a cumulative total of 529 877 confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 3 113 191 with 34 989 new tests conducted since the last report.

The Department of Health reports 414 new Covid-19 related deaths:

  • 135 from Eastern Cape
  • 45 from Gauteng
  • 62 from KwaZulu Natal
  • 34 from Western Cape
  • 16 from Mpumalanga
  • 122 from the Free State

This brings the cumulative number of deaths to 9 298. The number of recoveries currently stands at 377 266.
