Booze galore after truck transporting beer loses load: One injured

One person reportedly injured and at least four vehicles damaged when booze truck overturns.

The first day South Africans were able to buy alcoholic beverages legally again was a wish come true for many, but more so for some.

When one of the trailers of a SA Breweries truck lost its load on the corner of Frederick Cooper and Barrat Roads near what locals refer to as the Weekend Robot on Tuesday afternoon, 18 August, crates of booze were scattered all over the scene.

Looters were quick to appear and snatch what they could before police managed to disperse them.

The downside, however, is that reportedly, one person was injured and at least four vehicles were damaged.

Police weren’t available for comment immediately.
