Zim man sentenced to life for 2018 Kagiso murder

Man receives one life sentence as well as an additional 30 years life imprisonment for shooting and killing a man in Kagiso two years ago.

Vincent Madala Ncube, a 41-year-old Zimbabwean national was found guilty of the murder of a man at the Soul City informal settlement in 2018.

Ncube was convicted by the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg recently for murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of a firearm and a round of ammunition, and received one life sentence as well as an additional 30 years direct imprisonment.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson explained that at about 2am on 3 November 2018, police received a call about a body lying next to a gate in the settlement.

Police found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics certified him dead on scene. A murder case was opened and later handed over to the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit. A team of dedicated police members started extensive investigations which also involved working closely with the community.

“A few months later, the collaboration led to the apprehension of Ncube, a Zimbabwean national. He was detained and charged with murder.”

Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, applauded the investigating officer, detective Constable Ditibane and his team for their commitment and efforts.

“Hopefully this will bring the family some closure, although they will never see their loved one alive again.”
