Filling hungry Munsieville tummies
The women from the Kago Entle Outreach organisation in Munsieville have been feeding children and adults at least three times a week for the past few months.
At least three times a week, the women from the Kago Entle Outreach organisation get up early and start cooking, at times bracing cold weather to ensure that more than 200 people get fed.
At the head of this organisation is Matilda Vokwana, a 60-year-old Munsieville resident who said helping others is her passion.
Matilda explained that when lockdown came into effect she noticed that many children in her community were going hungry – that is when the feeding scheme was born!

She then got a permit to have her feeding scheme deemed essential under lockdown rules and has since managed to feed about 120 children and a handful of adults at least three times a week for the past few months.
Her menu is samp and meat, and sometimes pap and meat. Sometimes it is run from her home, other times from the Munsieville Clinic.

She and the four women helping her do all this out of their own pockets. They do not get donations regularly. Recently, she did, however, get a big donation of food from another feeding scheme in Burgershoop.
At first we only fed a small number of people, but as the lockdown dragged on and people heard about the feeding scheme, more and more arrived to get food,” she said.
Everyone who gets a plate of warm food is also screened and sanitized.
