Three people sustained serious to moderate injuries in a head-on collision on the N14 near Holfontein on the far West Rand on Monday, 31 August.

According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, ER24 paramedics and other emergency services found one of the women in a serious condition still trapped inside one of the vehicles.

The Krugersdorp Fire Department used rescue tools to free her from the wreckage. A medical helicopter was called to the scene where after she was airlifted to hospital. Two other women were treated for moderate to serious injuries. Both were later transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Local authorities attended the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are not yet known.
