Krugersdorp High School (KHS) has been extra careful and wary during the Covid-19 pandemic by limiting the number of learners on their school grounds and ensuring safe and healthy conditions inside and outside the classroom.
On Monday, 24 August, the school opened its gates again to its Grade 8 to 11 learners for the first time in five months.
During most of the lockdown period these learners were moving full steam ahead with their studies at home and online, not to fall behind on the curriculum.
The moment the learners enter the gates their hands are sanitized and temperatures are taken before they proceed to a registration table where they have to answer a few screening questions.
Strict social distancing norms are adhered to and masks are worn at all times.
Lauren Jooste-Coetsee, the KHS marketing director noted that the children have proven themselves to be very adaptable to the circumstances, adhering to these new guidelines.

She said teachers are ready for the learners when the classrooms are opened at 7am adding that, “The superheroes in disguise, our educators, have proven once more why they are such a force to be reckoned with within the education sector. As KHS was the first government high school in the area to ensure education was brought to the home, our superheroes have proven just how versatile they are as educators.
“On 1 April, like many of the private schools, KHS started term 2 work with its learners. Our educators adapted to a new norm and have pushed their own boundaries by teaching themselves and working together as a team to ensure that, one way or another, our children did not lose out.
“Our school has not come to a standstill due to the pandemic, instead we have re-aligned ourselves during this time and have shifted our focus to new opportunities.”
