Photographer and model gives back
Families from as far as Boksburg booked a family session.
“No one has ever become poor by giving.”
These are the words of Janine Pretorius, 31, from Janine Pretorius Photography, also a Mrs Africa 2021 finalist.
On Sunday, 16 August, Janine hosted a charity event in Monument to collect items for the needy. Within two hours of posting her charity drive project on social media, she had 15 family sessions booked.
According to the ‘Queen of all trades’, a fellow photographer and incredibly good friend, Louisa from Wanitta’s Photography offered her services. She said this led to them being able to book 30 family photo sessions for the day.
“I do not like asking for money or donations without giving something in return. I then came up with the brilliant idea that I would do a family session for each bag of clothes that I receive. Not one of the families pitched up with only one bag, all the families brought three to four bags filled with clothing and household items.”

“I want to thank all the families who supported me with this project. You have made a huge difference in someone’s life.”
After a long week of sorting and packing the clothes into boxes, Janine said she donated it to Cradle of Hope, Polokego Shelter for abused women and children, and St Laurence’ Children’s Home in Roodepoort.

“We live in difficult times, and there are a lot of families out there that need our help. Just one bag of clothes can change someone’s life.”
