Woman abducts and threatens to kill ex-brother-in-law

Police apprehended a woman who kidnapped, assaulted and threatened to kill her ex-brother-in-law over a vehicle and furniture that he allegedly took from her sister after their separation.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested for pointing a firearm, kidnapping and assaulting her ex-brother-in-law.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson explained they arrested the woman on 2 September following the incident that occurred in May this year.

The victim told police that he was driving with a friend on the R41 when they noticed a vehicle behind them flashing its lights. They pulled over but before the man could get out of his vehicle the woman had already approached him with a firearm. She then hit the victim in the mouth with the butt of the gun, injuring his upper lip. She threatened that she could kill him anytime she wanted to.

The woman was accompanied by two male accomplices, who took the victim out of his vehicle to the back seat of theirs,” read the statement. The woman allegedly kept demanding that the victim gave back the furniture and a vehicle he took from his ex-wife when they broke up.

“The victim’s abductors drove around with him for some time and later dropped him off at an unknown location. He managed to go back to where he left his vehicle after which he drove to Kagiso Police to lay a complaint.”

The Kagiso Police launched a manhunt for an armed woman accompanied by two male accomplices.

“She had been on the run until recently when police received a tip-off on her whereabouts. Kagiso Police followed the lead and eventually pounced on her,” said Sibiya. The woman has appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on charges of kidnapping, assault and pointing a firearm.
