Matric dance cancelled? You can still be a princess for a day

The Covid-19 pandemic has not stopped Madre Botha from making princess’ dreams come true.

For the past few years Madre Botha from Princess for a Day has been making brides and matric learners’ dreams come true by helping them with the perfect dress or outfit for the perfect occasion.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic and new health regulations many of this year’s matric dances were cancelled. This has, however, not stopped Madre from continuing to help those who want to feel like a princess for a day.

Madre recently started working for the Cradle of Hope and has decided to run her charity under the Cradle’s name to reach more people.

Even during lockdown, Madre explained, there were many brides who had small weddings and borrowed a dress from her.

More people are asking for help because they have lost their job or do not have the money to buy their own dresses,” she said.

She currently has about 2 000 different dresses and 1 000 pairs of shoes in her collection.

She lends these dresses, shoes, suits and accessories free of charge to anyone who cannot afford an outfit of their own for their special occasion.

We have strict Covid-19 rules in place – clients need to sanitize, and wear their masks, and we only allow two people per appointment,” she explained.

If you would like to make use of Madre’s service, you can contact her on 078 676 9760 to make an appointment.

“The more people we can help, the better,” Madre said smiling.
