A house robbery, a car chase and eventually an arrest were on the cards for Apcan Security recently.
In a statement on their Facebook page the security company explained that they intercepted a call about a house robbery on Matroosberg Street, Noordheuwel on the Sector 4 Community Policing Radio on Tuesday, 8 September.
A vehicle look-out was given for a white NP200 Nissan bakkie with a partial registration number that was involved,” read the statement.
One of Apcan’s reaction officers saw the vehicle speeding away from the scene and followed it while calling for backup. Another reaction officer responded and they chased the suspects towards Chamdor.

In an effort to get the two reaction officers to back off, the suspects kicked off the bakkie’s canopy, but their attempts failed and the pursuit continued.
“The bakkie hit a Polo in Jacobs Street near Kagiso and four suspects jumped and ran into the area.” The two reaction officers and one of Apcan’s TRF response units managed to arrest the driver of the vehicle on scene.

Warrant Officer Venter and Sergeant McDonald from the Police’s K9 Unit also responded to the incident and found housebreaking implements in the vehicle.
The vehicle was identified positively as the one wanted in another case in Krugersdorp.
Senior police members from Crime Intelligence and Trio Crimes attended the scene and found that the vehicle and the suspect were wanted for numerous house robberies and house break-ins,” explained Apcan.
The statement also explained that the driver was identified as a well-known and wanted suspect in the West Rand area for home-invasion and robbery-related crimes.

Apcan said that this was an enormous breakthrough in the Noordheuwel robbery cases, and they thanked the community member who alerted Apcan on the CPF radio, for his attention to detail when giving them the description.
“Also, very well done to Apcan Reaction Officers for their swift response to the call for assistance which caused the suspect to be apprehended,” said the statement.
