WATCH: Hip-hop trio shake up Kagiso music scene

The production trio from Kagiso is making new waves with their song all about violence against women, gaining new fans every day.

South Africa is a breeding ground for talent. Take a few young and ambitious guys, add some singing and writing prowess, and the ability to record music and film their own music videos, and you get the talented Insync Entertainment boys.

The production trio from the township is making waves in town with their rapid expansion and growing popularity among the youth in Kagiso. Recently, Tshegofatso Radebe, Thulani Banda and Solomon Mlungu put the finishing touches on their latest music video, Siza, which means ‘help’.

Help for abused women is exactly what the group wants to bring to the forefront of the public’s minds on a daily basis. Their hope is that the more people listen to their song, the more the message of fighting gender-based violence will be cemented in their thoughts, and affect how they act toward the people around them.

We’re just trying to spread awareness about this form of violence, because women are scared. You see it on the news all the time. Every time you open your Facebook account, you read about a missing woman and a child that’s drowned,” explained Insync‘s music producer, Solomon.

The song starts off powerful, with deep, soulful piano music and a woman’s voice pleading for the violence to stop. Throughout, a few women feature, asking people not to be silent, with the names of girls who have gone missing over the years emphasising the serious message.

The group has set up their own small, in-home recording studio with the basic equipment and editing programs, and is hoping to expand their production capabilities in the coming year.

Their plan is to invite up and coming artists to record with them, where they will help with everything from start to finish, in an attempt to get new faces onto the music scene and nurture a strong network of entertainers helping each other.
