Police raise awareness at Monnas

Police visited Hoërskool Monument High School for an awareness talk about teenage pregnancy, human trafficking, bullying and substance abuse.

Grade 9 learners from Hoërskool Monument High School received a visit from police recently.

The police’s Social Crime Unit and Communications Department, the Department of Community Safety, the Department of Education and West Rand District members in the health, sports and community safety sector were among the guests.

They spoke to the about 250 Grade 9 learners about teenage pregnancy, human trafficking, bullying and substance abuse.

“The learners were also reminded that the lockdown is not yet over and that they should continue adhering to the social distancing of about 1,5m, wearing their face mask, washing their hands with water and soap, or using sanitizers,” said Captain Raymond Sebonyane, Krugersdorp Police spokesperson .

The visitors also encouraged learners to report any illegal activities in and around their school.

The school principal, Johan Calitz thanked the team for coming to the school to speak to the learners despite the cold weather, adding that they are always welcome to visit the school,” Sebonyane added.
