One killed, eight injured in four-vehicle Tarlton crash
A four-car pile-up in Tarlton cost one man his life, while two other victims were airlifted to hospital and six others were taken there by ambulance.
A four-car pile-up on the R24 in Tarlton on Friday evening, 25 September claimed the life of one person and left eight others injured.
Ineke van Huyssteen of ER24 said in a statement their paramedics responded to the scene after 8.30pm where they found multiple patients.
Upon further assessment, they found a man in the driver’s seat of one of the vehicles, showing no signs of life. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene,” she said.
Three other patients were found to have sustained serious injuries, while two were still trapped in the vehicle. The West Rand Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the trapped patients.
“Two medical helicopters were activated to airlift two of the seriously injured patients to hospital for further medical care. Five others were found to have sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate,” Van Huyssteen explained.
The patients were treated on scene by various medical services before being transported to hospital for further medical care.
Van Huyssteen said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known yet but that police were on scene to investigate.
