Woman of Stature and JCCI unite to empower women

Woman of Stature was founded by West Rand businesswoman Charlotte du Plessis in 2013 as a proudly South African organisation committed to the empowerment of women.

Woman of Stature (WOS) and the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) have joined forces as strategic partners and pledged to enhance the liaison and cooperation between their respective organisations.

The collaboration will enhance their activities in the fields of investment, business information and other commerce-orientated activities.

WOS was founded by West Rand businesswoman Charlotte du Plessis in 2013 as a proudly South African organisation committed to the empowerment of women. It has evolved and transitioned over the years into a training, networking and development organisation.

Currently CEO, Charlotte developed WOS around a culture of inclusivity, and purposeful professional integrity. It aims to support women in the development of their skills and how to apply them in business through further education, training and skills development. At its core, the organisation helps to unify and harness the power of women throughout South Africa.

Women are still under-represented in the work force, marginalised socially and domestically abused. It is my vision that WOS channels this message and provides a voice for the de-voiced and voiceless.”

Shereen Hunter was appointed as the Managing Director of WoS Network in June this year. She has worked with Charlotte to develop the WOS brand over the last three years, and has watched it grow from year to year as one of the leading business networking brands in South Africa, with plans also in the pipeline to grow internationally. A date for the first international WOS event has already been confirmed in 2021 with a strategic partner in the Middle East.

On Tuesday, 29 September, a monthly Chapter Business Network Meeting was held at the Coffee Cup in Rant-and-Dal. Their theme for September was New Beginnings.

“The aim was to put the past behind us, celebrate the present and make new memories as we meet up for the first time after the dreadful lockdown. Our Chapter Leaders and your fellow WOS Network members could not wait to welcome you,” said Yolande Opperman, WOS Regional Associate for the Johannesburg West Rand region.
