Man suspected of stealing goods worth thousands arrested

The Kagiso Police traced and caught a suspect who is believed to have stolen property amounting to thousands of rands.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson explained that the suspect is behind bars and is expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on charges of business robbery.

The complainant told police that she left her workplace at about 4pm on Tuesday, 13 October but when she returned the next morning she found that someone had broken in.

The door to the development project’s site was forced open with an unknown object and she noticed property amounting to thousands of rands missing.

Upon further investigating she found 110m electrical cable; an electrical kettle; school uniforms which included jerseys, jackets and shoes; stationery; blankets; a heater; microwaves; a drilling machine; fire extinguishers; groceries; sanitizer; and cleaning materials missing.

She reported the matter to the Kagiso Police, who consequently arrested the suspect who was well known to the complainant.

Brigadier Themba Maduna, Kagiso Police station commander applauded his members for the arrest, saying, “Your immediate response to information was excellent, which led to the arrest of the suspect. Such perpetrators need to be named and shamed, especially when they steal goods meant for the development of our children.”
