APCAN security released their crime report for the period 7 to 20 October, revealing five incidents for their client base.
On 7 October, officers responded to a break-in in Noordheuwel.
The perpetrator gained entry into the property by climbing over the main gate. When an APCAN reaction officer arrived on the scene after the panic button had been activated, he came across the gardener who was standing with another man. The gardener told the reaction officer that he found the man at the back of the house. When questioned, the intruder told the reaction officer that he was looking for scrap to sell because he was hungry. The Krugersdorp Police were called and the suspect was taken into custody.
APCAN also responded to an armed robbery incident at a store in Rant-and-Dal on 11 October.
The manager told the reaction officer that three men walked into the store and asked the cashier if they sold loose cigarettes. Before the cashier realised what was happening he was held at gunpoint and robbed. The robbers who drove a silver/ grey Toyota made off with R1 500 cash, cigarettes, energy drinks and four cellphones that belonged to petrol attendants. The Krugersdorp Police were also on scene.
On 12 October, they responded to a break-in in Chamdor where a gate was broken to gain entry into the premises. Property to the value of R30 000 was stolen in this incident. They also responded to a call of malicious damage to property on Viljoen Street on 13 October, and the police were contacted.
Then on 20 October reaction officers responded to an armed robbery in Chamdor where R15 000 worth of cigarettes were stolen.
