A 29-year-old man from Tshepisong was arrested after he allegedly stabbed two people on Monday, 7 December. One of them died.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson explained that the police were called to the crime scene and when they arrived they found one victim lying on the ground bleeding from his stab wounds.

The second victim had been stabbed in the hand.

Sibiya said a witness on scene told police that the 29-year-old man arrived at their place and was in possession of two knives. He was allegedly looking for someone.

The witness told police that the man then suddenly started attacking and stabbed the first man in his upper body. He then turned to the second man and stabbed him as well without saying a word.

He allegedly stabbed the deceased using both knives. The deceased was certified dead on the scene by the paramedics,” Sibiya explained.

Police started searching for the knife-wielding suspect, and he was cornered and apprehended a few minutes after the incident. He was then placed under arrest and later detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case of murder was opened.

The motive for the attack is still under investigation. The suspect will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder, and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
