Warning to joggers after woman was attacked and robbed

'Criminals always look for an opportunity to prey on unsuspecting victims' – local police.

Kagiso Police have issued a warning after a woman was targeted during a morning jog.

“You are advised always to run in groups of two or more, as criminals seem to target people running alone along the road in the mornings or afternoons,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson.

He explained that a woman had been attacked and robbed at knife point early on Tuesday morning, 8 December.

Chances are that she could have been raped,” he added, saying that the thug threatened her and dragged her onto the grass before robbing her of her cellphone.

“Remember that criminals always look for an opportunity to prey on unsuspecting victims. They study your movements and plan their attack.”

He advised joggers always to make sure that there are other joggers in front as well as behind them.
