Another successful Okae Molao operation just a few minutes after midnight on 1 January 2021 led to police arresting a 59-year-old man and his 18-year-old son for suspected stock theft on the R41 Road near Azaadville.
According to Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson, while ensuring that the public adhered to curfew regulations, police stopped a white Toyota Quantum with a trailer bearing an Eastern Cape registration.

“During a search, police found 18 sheep on the trailer and in the minibus,” Sibiya explained.
The Quantum was converted temporarily to a panel van as seats were removed to make room for the suspected stolen sheep.”
One of the suspects reportedly claimed that they had been hired by someone in Swanieville to deliver the stock, but didn’t have any proof of the purchase.

The men were arrested and taken to the Kagiso Police Station where a case of stock theft was opened against them. A court date was set for the following day but the outcome is not yet known to the News.
Police will also add charges of non-compliance with Covid-19 restrictions,” added Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Kagiso Police station commander.
