An attack on two cyclists in Diswilmar, Muldersdrift on Thursday morning, 21 January has left one person in a serious condition and needing medical assistance.
According to reports, two cyclists were confronted by two men in a veld behind Cradlestone Mall at about 6am.
It is reported that the two attackers, who were both armed, robbed the cyclists of their valuables. During the struggle it is believed that one of the cyclists broke his leg.
Shots were then fired at the two cyclists and the robbers made off with one of the bicycles. Luckily no one was wounded.
In a statement by ER24’s Communications Officer, Russel Meiring, their paramedics responded to the scene at 6.35am and found one man lying on the side of the road while several security members were in attendance.
He said it was understood that the man had been robbed. The medics assessed the cyclist and found that he had sustained severe injuries to his leg and pelvis, which left him in a serious condition.
Medics treated the man and provided him with pain-relief medication before he was transported to a private hospital for further care,” Meiring said.
Apart from ER24, local authorities and BCI Security were also on scene.
