Johan Krogh, General Manager for EPR Security explained that the majority of the incidents reported to them over the weekend between 29 to 31 January occurred at business premises.
Krogh said two separate incidents of vehicle theft were reported and in both cases the same type of vehicle had been targeted, namely VW Golfs.
On Friday, 29 January, a break-in was reported on Dekker Street in Krugersdorp West, as well as a vehicle theft in Monument.
Saturday, 30 January, was a much busier day with five incidents – a break-in on Ockerse Street, a theft at a plot, a vehicle theft in Monument, a business damaged by nature in Factoria, and damage to property at a plot on the N14.
Only two incidents were reported on Sunday, 31 January – a trespassing in Krugersdorp West and a break-in in Noordheuwel.
Krogh urged residents to ensure their vehicles are locked properly and securely, even if the vehicle is parked inside their property.
