Man charged with attempted murder in Noordheuwel parking lot scuffle

Following a late-night scuffle in a parking lot in Noordheuwel last year, the man accused of attempted murder will be going on trial later this month.

Last year, on 20 August, a video surfaced of a late-night scuffle in the parking lot of a shopping centre in Noordheuwel.

A man allegedly was stabbed in the incident.

Colonel Madikwena Magdeleen Maboe from the Krugersdorp Police confirmed that two cases of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm had been opened.

After the case docket was returned by the State Prosecutor for further investigation, the case has finally been referred to the regional court and a court date set. The accused in this case, Heinz Hubner, will go on trial on 25 February after being charged with attempted murder, among others. He is currently out on bail.

Because there is camera footage involved in this case, the State asked to be allowed some time to study it and finalise their investigation.
