Days after the Kagiso Police arrested a 21-year- old man for possession of drugs, and an illegal firearm and ammunition, another arrest was made in Tshepisong.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson said on Thursday, 9 February, members of the crime-prevention unit were on patrol in the area when they received a tip-off about someone selling drugs.

“They responded swiftly to the information and proceeded to the given address where they found the suspect at his home.”

When searching the suspect and his room, police found 30 Ziplock plastic packets in his trousers containing crystal meth. They also confiscated an unlicensed silver pistol with filed-off serial numbers, three special revolver rounds of ammunition, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, three magazines, a Speedpoint card-swiping machine, a brown leather firearm holster, and nine cellphones.

“The suspect was placed under arrest and detained at the Kagiso Police Station while a case of possession of drugs, unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and suspected stolen property was opened.

This is an indication that there are more firearms in the wrong hands. We will do everything in our power to expose and arrest perpetrators. Good work by our members,” said Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Kagiso Police station commander.
