Help the SPCA feed a furry friend

As the winter season draws nearer, the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA is asking for help to make sure that the cats and dogs in their care are warm and fed.

When you look into the eyes of an animal, you see their souls; their innocence and their love.

It doesn’t matter if you are a dog person, a cat person, or neither – when you see an animal in distress your instinct is to help them because they cannot help themselves.

This is why organisations like the SPCA are so important; they protect animals that have been abandoned, gone astray, and have lived through horrific circumstances – they protect the innocent.

After the closure of the Krugersdorp SPCA, the Roodepoort SPCA took over their jurisdiction and became the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA, which meant they had a much larger area to rescue animals from and therefore a lot more animals coming into their care.

Their care load increased, but that doesn’t necessarily mean their donations did. As the winter season draws nearer, the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA is asking for help to make sure that the cats and dogs in their care are warm and fed.

The organisation is in desperate need of the following items:

• Tinned cat food and dog food

• Dry cat food

• Blankets (preferably the grey blankets from PEP because they are less likely to rip or tear)

• Dog jerseys

Without your help we cannot provide the animals in our kennels with the basic comforts all pets deserve,” said the local SPCA’s manager, Mandy Cattanach.

The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA is located at 3 Nadine Street, Florida, but all visits are by appointment only for the time being. If you are able to donate any of the above items, please contact the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA on 011 672 0448 or visit their website to make a donation online and find out more about them. If you are able to make a financial contribution, no matter how big or small, it will go to good use.

The organisation’s banking details are as follows:

Account number: 021145571
