Krugersdorp High School (KHS) learners and teachers were eager to get back to school and finally start their school year. Half of the school returned on 15 February and the other half on 16 February.
“Even though the school year started unconventionally, the learners got into the routine immediately – the Krugersdorp High School learners had in fact begun with online revision at the beginning of the month,” explained Lauren Jooste-Coetsee, KHS Marketing Director.
Learner Tebogo Maseko said he was delighted to be back, and hoped that he would have the chance to get onto the sports field again soon.
Daarian Pretorius felt the same, and said he wanted to do well in class this year; but more so he wanted to continue his baseball training with the goal of making it into the U/18 and U/23 World Cup teams.
Ashay Parbhoo had her sights set on a full house of distinctions this year, and furthering her artistic prowess.
Jordyn Ehmke planned on making 2021 her biggest school year as she was given the opportunity to lead the learners through every twist and turn. She planned on reaching her full potential, saying that her motto for the year was a quote by businessman and writer Max Dupree: “We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are”.
Bonolo Hlatswayo explained that, although everyone’s in the midst of a pandemic and all of it was rather nerve-wracking, she could not wait to see what the year had in store for her as she aimed to become the best version of herself – academically and as a leader.
Haruperi Gunguwo admitted that she was nervous about her finals, prelims and how the year in general would unfold. But, she was excited and ready for the year ahead, and promised to give it her all.
