Consistent intelligence-driven operations recently led to the arrest of four suspects between the ages of 28 and 38 who were linked to a house robbery in Sinqobile earlier this year.
Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya explained that the four suspects were arrested on June 26.
On January 3 at about 21:00 the victim was asleep in his house with his family when they heard a knock on the door. The people at the door demanded cash from them and the victim’s wife responded by saying that her husband wasn’t at home.
“They insisted and ordered her to open the door.”
They then tried to open the window but failed, but they kicked open the door and forcefully entered the home.
Once inside they pointed a firearm at the victim and his family, and again demanded cash. They ransacked the house and took the family’s TV set, two cellphones and two pairs of All Star takkies.”
After robbing the family they fled the scene in a silver-grey Toyota Tazz, but left behind one of their cellphones.
A case was opened with the Kagiso Police and an investigation was launched to search for the three robbers and their vehicle. The investigation yielded results and the suspects were arrested.
The Kagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Themba Maduna applauded the members for their hard work and commitment throughout the investigation.
House robberies in our area, including Sinqobile, are a grave concern and we need our communities to provide information to the police about perpetrators involved,” he added.
Sibiya said the police’s investigation will determine if the suspects could be linked to similar cases.
