Rocks had been placed in front of Kagiso Mall and the gates to the mall were closed. Some of the service stations were cordoned off, but everything was quiet and calm.

Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain, Solomon Sibiya, confirmed to the News that people had been rioting and trying to loot businesses.

Large rocks were used to block roads.

Some businesses were vandalised, and police suspect that the roads had been obstructed to make it difficult for their vehicles to get through.

Sibiya added that not much damage had been caused and that police had been on alert the whole of Monday.
