Those found with stolen goods and selling home concoctions included in weekend arrests

The police said the war against criminality won't stop now. Their working relationship with communities is always improving, and more information is coming forward.

On Saturday, July 24 the Kagiso Police braved the cold weather from 07:00 to 19:00 to combat crime in their area.

“During their vigorous and results-driven operation, the members received yet another tip-off of a suspect at Tshepisong Phase 7 who was in possession of suspected stolen property,” said Kagiso Police’s spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya.

Equipment believed to be used for illegal mining.

The police reacted swiftly to this information and at the given address they found a 45-year-old man who had locked himself in and refused the police entry.

When the man later gave in and opened the door the police discovered sealed boxes of suspected stolen goods. Some were even hidden inside the ceiling.

“Police arrested him and confiscated the goods.”

A 34-year-old woman from Zulu Jump was also arrested for brewing a concoction and selling it.

“The team further stretched their net as they closed in on illegal miners once again. An assortment of illegal mining equipment and machinery was found and confiscated, and three illegal miners were apprehended.”
