KHS learner takes on international pageantry

KHS' own Savannah Taylor sets out to take home the Miss Regal International Teen SA crown and help women on her journey.

With unrivaled style, beauty, intelligence and finesse, 17-year-old Krugersdorp High School learner Savannah Taylor is taking on the international pageantry scene, consistently beating the competition all the way to the finals.

It’s been a long road to get there, and now Savanah gets to compete alongside 10 other finalists for the crown of Miss Regal International Teen SA 2021.

Savannah’s pageantry journey started three years ago with modelling when she joined Ace Models International. “Initially I started modelling to boost my confidence on stage with singing, as stage performance goes hand in hand with singing. I wanted to take every opportunity possible to reach my full potential. I also wanted to use the platform to make a difference in some way,” Savannah explained.

As part of her Miss Regal journey, Savannah took a more pronounced step into the charity space and learned that she truly had a love for helping others. “This pageant has a very important and relevant message. The pageant supports People Opposing Women Abuse – POWA – which opposes domestic violence. With gender-based violence being called a second pandemic, it’s important for every person to spread awareness about it. I believe that POWA makes a difference and that is why I want to compete in this pageant; to use the title to make a difference.”

Being no stranger to charity, Savannah has worked with FORA to raise money and collect food, blankets and more. During the festive period she and her family bought various Christmas gifts for less fortunate children . She explained that she also feels very strongly about combating racism, inequality, bullying among children, and the abuse of women and children.

“I’ve taken part in many other singing and music competitions, the last being the Talent Africa Poland and Ireland Virtual World Championships. I achieved a first place in my category for my Vocal Solo as well as a global recognition Silver Special award among all the contestants from all over the world. I also received my South African colours in performing arts, and a fellow student and I were finalists in the 5FM interschools music competition this year.”

The winner will be crowned on Saturday, October 23.
