Local community entities receive hampers
“We are here because these organisations are based in the communities and they are working with beneficiaries that we would like to touch."
On Saturday, October 2 Frontline City Church (FCC) received 150 hampers from Making a Difference SA that will be handed over to different community entities within the West Rand.
According to Wendy McKillop who is a community and justice pastor at FCC, they believe that as the local church they should be relevant in their community.
“We were fortunate enough to have been introduced to Making a Difference SA who was able to source items for both baby hampers and food hampers.
“FCC has previously been able to assist families in our community with food hampers.
“We are aware of some NGOs, organisations and relating churches who work with groups and/ or individuals in need of food in our area, and we invited them to receive a little practical help from us,” said Wendy.
Hope Risen Foundation that assists women and their children who are survivors of human trafficking and/ or sexual exploitation, as well as some individual moms from the community were given baby hampers and food hampers.
Cradle of Hope, which is a restoration home for women, runs feeding schemes for the community, a pre-school for children of residents, and men’s and women’s shelters also received food hampers.

The food hampers also made their way to Bethany House, which takes in and looks after babies and children in crisis as well as give a loving home to orphans.
Present on the day was the Honeydew Sector 3 CPF members who work closely with the police and are additional eyes and ears for them when their volunteer patrollers are out patrolling, as well as assist in delivering food parcels to the residents in the community.
Honeydew Police Social Crime Prevention Unit not only protects and serves, they also play a vital role in assisting families in need due to various unexpected crises and situations they find themselves in.
“We are here at the church today to support this initiative of donating hampers from Making a Difference SA.
“This is really going to make a difference to our community as we meet a lot of rape and child-abuse victims who need as much comfort as possible,” said Sergeant Mamasedi May.
Prevailing Word Ministries International (PWMI) is a relating church that assists members of their community who need food and practical assistance.
Fidelity ADT Security Company assisted with distributing food parcels where the church is unable to do so, as well as provided FCC with much-needed security.
“We are here because these organisations are based in the communities and they are working with beneficiaries that we would like to touch.
“They are organisations that have credibility in their communities and we have chosen to partner with them in order to bring support,” said Kugen Naidoo from Making a Difference SA.
