Laduma! HTS N Diederichs THS soccer players make it big

Six HTS N Diederichs THS learners were chosen for the regional soccer team recently.

Sport has made a comeback at HTS N Diederichs THS with newly found vigour this year.

After organised sport came to a standstill during the early stages of the pandemic, nothing is holding back the learners anymore as they give it their all on the fields and courts.

The school’s outstanding soccer players once again have proven that they have the skills, drive and endurance to take on players from across the District when nine learners recently made it into the regional selections round, and six boys were chosen to represent the West Rand in the regional playoffs on Sunday, October 17 at the Kagiso Stadium.

Sanele Majenge, Tsholano Sekopane, Obakeng Sithole, Tlotliso Pitso, Kgotso Moeletsi and Nathi Nkosi were chosen for the Gauteng West D2 team. If these learners do well they will play in the provincial playoffs later this year.

“The junior team has been the school’s main focus as the boys have been fully committed. Our school had the honour of hosting the Mogale City Schools Selections which were organised by the District. Schools that were part of the selections were Kingswood Academy School, Krugersdorp High School and Maloney’s Eye,” explained Adelle Nel, teacher and teams manager.

“The three coaches, Gift Seziba for the U/15s, Lebogang Dube for the U/17s and Tetelo Mogapi who is the U/15 assistant coach and U/17 analyst were the core of these boys’ outstanding performance and fitness levels. The coaches will now be working hard with the school team to improve certain aspects of the game as we prepare for upcoming tournaments and friendly matches organised with big development teams for player recognition.”

The school is appealing to people and businesses who would like to support and sponsor these players as they go out to achieve their dreams and represent Krugersdorp in the process. Those interested can contact Adelle on 076 634 3290 or Gift on 062 919 3919.
